A CURIOUS TALE

Hotfoot Healer (风速疗愈师) is a high-speed, low-resolution arcade game about adventure and goodwill. It is a very short playthrough inspired by the many short, strange stories of Pu Songling (蒲松龄) and other Chinese authors. As the legend goes:

"A young monk was resting on a mountain when two ailing fox-spirits appeared before him, both sneezing to and fro. But before the monk could so much as say a word, a peculiar gale swept in, fierce enough to lift the foxes skyward and carry them toward the valley. At once, the monk prepared a magical elixir and filled his medicinal gourd. He set off down the mountain, following the winds..."

This game was created during LOWREZJAM 2021 from August 1 - August 14 in 2021.

ABOUT THE GAME

• SELECT YOUR SPEED! What'll it be—Slow, Normal, or Turbo?
• SEE YA! Move and jump to avoid enemies and obstacles in your way!
• BOOM! You can fend off enemies by swinging your gourd, too!
• WATCH OUT! Because running into obstacles and enemies sure hurts!
• GLUG! If you deplete all of your HP, you'll take a sip of the elixir to heal...
• UH-OH! But if you're out of elixir and HP, that's game over!
• CTRL + V! Complete the game to get a pastable ending card! Collect all 9!
• LET'S GO! Play with skill and courage to set a new top score!

CONTROLS

• D-Pad / Left Stick / WASD - Move
• Top or Bottom Face Button / Left Shoulder / Left Trigger / K - Jump
• Left or Right Face Button / Right Shoulder / Right Trigger / J - Attack
• Start or Select Button / Space - Pause

KEY COMMANDS

• Alt + Enter - Toggle between fullscreen and windowed modes
• Alt + B - Toggle between exclusive and borderless fullscreen
• Alt + V - Toggle vertical sync on or off
• Alt + C - Toggle CRT shader on or off
• Alt + F - Toggle FPS display on or off
• Alt + 1 - Reduce windowed scaling factor
• Alt + 2 - Increase windowed scaling factor
• Alt + 9 - Reduce audio volume
• Alt + 0 - Increase audio volume
